Rahul Suri
Founder & Managing Partner
Rahul is the founder of Clariti Strategic Advisors and provides his personal touch to every Clariti engagement. Prior to founding Clariti, he was an Operating Advisor with The Carlyle Group, a U.S. based global alternative asset manager with over US$200 billion of assets under management.
Rahul was previously the Head of Growth (Emerging) Markets investment and corporate banking with BMO Capital Markets. From 2000 to 2008, Rahul was a senior executive and one of the top five named officers with Celestica Inc., a global leader in the delivery of end-to-end product lifecycle solutions within the electronics manufacturing industry. At Celestica, he initially devised and executed the non-organic growth and diversification strategy for the company, following which he took over full P&L responsibility and engineered a highly successful turn-around of the company’s multibillion-dollar Enterprise division.
From 1989 to 1997, Rahul was a senior lawyer and partner with Davies, Ward & Beck (now Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg), where his practice focused on M&A and corporate finance. In 1997, he was hired as a senior M&A professional by BMO Capital Markets, where he practised until his move to Celestica.
Rahul has written and delivered several papers on derivative products and innovative financing techniques in mergers and acquisitions. He was nominated for Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 Award; and he received the bronze medal in the Canadian investment banking partners’ exam.
Rahul has been a visiting professor at Queen’s University Law School, where he taught advanced corporate law and M&A, has served as Policy Advisor to the Chairman and Executive Director of the Ontario Securities Commission and acts from time to time as an expert witness in high profile securities litigation matters.
He is the Chair of the Board of Daisy Intelligence Corporation, a Toronto-based applied A.I. SaaS company, and also sits on the board of HealthHub Patient Engagement Solutions Inc., a leading Canadian healthcare solutions provider.
Rahul is actively involved with giving back to the community. He sits on the board of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, as well as on its governance committee, and for eight years, was a board member (Vice Chair) at Covenant House, a charity dedicated to the care of homeless and trafficked youth, where he also chaired the governance committee.
Rahul has an M.A. in Law from Cambridge University, England.
Bruce Shewfelt
Senior Advisor
Bruce joined Clariti Strategic Advisors in 2018 as a Senior Advisor focusing primarily on the asset management and financial services sectors. He is also the President of Acuity Sales Inc., a company that assists entrepreneurs in building effective sales strategies to grow their businesses.
Prior to founding Acuity, Bruce spent 30 years leading investment management and financial services businesses in Canada and the United Kingdom. From 2014 to 2018, he was Managing Director of Buetel Goodman, responsible for client services, business development and marketing for institutional and retail clients. He was also a member of the company’s Management Committee and Board of Directors.
From 2012 to 2014, Bruce was Chief Executive Officer of the Private Capital division of Connor Clark & Lunn Financial Group, a business focused on building and preserving the wealth of high net worth individuals and their families. From 2002 to 2012, Bruce was the company’s Senior Vice President and Head of Institutional Sales. In this role, he led a team that helped grow the institutional client base by over $30 billion (net) in assets under management.
Bruce began his career at TD Bank Financial Group in 1987 where he held a number of progressive management positions until 2002, including: Senior Vice President & Managing Director, TD Waterhouse Investor Services, Vice President, Pension and Corporate Trust Services, TD Trust, and Director, Custody Services, TD Bank, London, England.
Bruce is active in the community. He sits on the board of Covenant House, a charity dedicated to the care of homeless and trafficked youth. In addition, he is Chair of the charity’s Finance and Property Committee, sits on its Governance Committee, and chairs its Executive Sleep Out Committee. Bruce is also a volunteer for Mars Innovation Hub, helping entrepreneurs in the fintech space develop and execute effective sales strategies.
Bruce has a B.A. in Economics from University of Western Ontario, Kings College.
